Programs such as independent living centers or fitness centers which are interested in offering the Living Well program, but are constratined by tight budgets, can look to external funding sources to help defray costs. From our experience conducting the Living Well program in research and demonstration programs, we believe there are two primary mechanisms for funding. First, Living Well fits the funding priorities of many local and regional foundations. Foundations may be willing to fund development of health promotion services in your local geographic area. Second, when Living Well is provided by credentialed providers (e.g. licensed counselors) the program may be a reimbursable service for a variety of third party payers including Medicaid, Medicare, and Vocational Rehabilitation. We can provide technical assistance to access these funding mechanims. |
